Lore
Silverfang: The famine that plagued Arcanterra during the second Arcan War caused many to turn to more divine means of acquiring food. Offerings and shrines began to dot the landscape, as ritual stones were carved out and decorated to beseech the gods for help. Many did not answer these prayers, but there were a few that found the opportunity beneficial. One of these gods, Daria, was called upon by a small village in the woods of Eryion for help. She answered their request for aid in exchange for a sacrifice. They were to bring one man to her shrine under a full moon, and kill him using a sacrificial dagger made of birchstone. The villagers did as Daria requested, and as the full moon crested above the clouds, they carried out the goddesses’ bidding. But the man did not die, and was rather filled with the essence of Daria’s will. He broke loose from his chains and slaughtered all those present at the ritual site. Quickly, word spread through the village, and soon the continents, as the legend of Silverfang, Terror of the Night filled people’s hearts with dread. A werewolf beast, he ravaged the lands of Eryion and beyond in the search of freeing his master from the spirit realm, relentless in his pursuit of creating a tear between the natural world and the realm of Daria’s kingdom. Over the next few hundred years, Silverfang roamed the lands of the dark forests, feasting on unsuspecting travelers that would wander through his domain. He found out quickly that darkness was his friend, and spent much of his time in the shadows, lurking under the cover of treetops, out of the sun and light. During the night he would wreak havoc on the villages that lined the outside of the forests, searching for answers in his quest to release his master. Those brave enough to fight back against the beast seldom had any luck, and soon, most of the villages fled north or west to larger kingdoms and settlements. Devoid of most of his sustenance, he became weak and fell to frailty. Only when the moon was full did he regain enough strength to roam the forest, but as Silverfang’s presence in the region fell, so too did tales of his legend. He was only able to venture out of the forest once every few full moons, as his powers fully healed, and so his legend turned into myth, as villages around the forest were filled with those less convinced of tales of the beast. Silverfang continues his quest to free his master from her realm, as he rests to one day fully unleash himself on those who caused him to transform into the monster he is today.
